Velos is looking for a Senior DA Officer to join Disbursements Department. This role is well suited to a candidate with strong knowledge of the shipping industry who is highly organized, forward-thinking, and able to identify and implement opportunities to improve internal processes.
Responsibilities
- Monitor vessels’ port calls and coordinate required follow-ups.
- Communicate directly with Port Agents and Port Service Providers to obtain competitive PDAs and ensure high-quality services.
- Negotiate effectively with Agents for competitive rates and support potential contract discussions.
- Review and approve Proforma and Final Disbursement Account.
- Work closely with the Operations Department regarding day-to-day fleet position, cargo operations, husbandry arrangements, and owners’ matters.
- Prepare reports and maintain up-to-date records related to Agents’ performance and vessels port expenses to support effective cost control.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant shipping software; Danaos ERP knowledge will be considered an advantage.
- University degree in Shipping, Economics, or a related field.
- Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
