RINA Train The Trainer

Course duration and level: 8 hours – Advanced

Course Objectives
Training course providing skills and understanding to design, assess and deliver maritime training programmes. Those
who successfully complete the course will be able to teach a maritime competence-based course effectively using
appropriate methods and teaching aids. The program includes the planning and relational aspects related to training,
focusing on the characteristics of professional tutors/teachers participating in the course and the type of training
provided.

The targets will be focused on:

  • Create a language and a common style among tutors/teachers interested in the business to ensure a consistency
    of image inside and outside
  • Provide a global view of educational processes, with particular attention to the effective use of approaches and
    methods adjusted for the learning targets and the type of participants
  • Strengthen communication skills and the relationship with students during coaching, for individual paths and in
    classroom management
  • Raise awareness in the participants about the most effective learning techniques for adults
  • Master the variables needed for an effective design of training/training interventions
  • Provide techniques to enhance communication and to establish an effective relationship with its participants
  • Focus on the key moments and critical situations typical of classroom training
  • To consider the most effective behaviors to keep during a training and during the management of the classroom
    and participants
  • Communication methods: listening and answering

Course Contents

  • Assessment of the knowledge and experience of the participants
  • What does it mean “ to learn” and how do we do it?
  • Learning methods (individual questionnaires and group discussion)
  • The main factors that affect learning (working in small groups and group discussion)
  • Situations, teaching methods and learning: advantages and disadvantages (working in small groups and group discussion)
  • How to plan a training program: from the targets to the lesson and organization planning
  • Planning of a training program (working in small groups and group discussion)
  • How to plan a training program: organizational planning, teaching and planning of the training setting
  • Communication techniques: sympathize with the public
  • Non-verbal language: the use of language and methods to arouse interest
  • Group process’ phases: the behaviors of the participants and the trainer, from the beginning to the end
  • The function of regulating and facilitating the management of the group Target Group
