SOME objective is to present up-to-date research and academic papers and applied operational solutions; create interesting discussions about important issues for the maritime industry; and create business opportunities by bringing together maritime economists, ship operators, technical and financial managers, naval architects, marine engineers, academics, classification societies and marine transportation policy-makers.
Its 2-day program is scheduled to comprise keynote speeches, presentations given by key players from the industry, panels, a student contest debate as well as an expo hall.
SOME also aims at awarding scholarships to future industry players, students, with funds collected from sponsors. Theodoros Kardaras, a recently-awarded undergraduate scholarship winner, has already set the bar high.
