We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Financial Controller to join our Finance team. In this role, you will support the financial management, analysis, and control functions across our maritime shipping and vehicle logistics businesses within the Neptune Group. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to monitor business performance, ensure accurate financial reporting, and contribute to strategic planning initiatives. Reporting directly to the Sr. Manager, Treasurer and Financial Controller, key accountabilities include
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing financial control operations, ensuring alignment with the company’s and Group’s strategic objectives
- Monitor and control financial performance across shipping and land business activities, ensuring cost-effectiveness and profitability.
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports, showcasing financial performance, profitability trends, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Coordinate the preparation and maintenance of a developing suite of management reports on PowerBi or a similar tool.
- Set up, maintain, and monitor profit and cost centers, ensuring accurate allocation of expenses and conducting in-depth profitability analyses for each business unit.
- Oversee the work of external advisors and accounting teams in subsidiary companies, providing guidance to ensure compliance with internal controls.
- Assist in the preparation of semi-annual and annual financial reports in line with regulatory requirements and Group standards.
- Participate in the annual budgeting process, working closely with various departments to compile and validate financial projections.
- Track and analyze variances between actual results and budgeted figures, reporting deviations and investigating root causes for any discrepancies.
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure the availability of accurate, timely financial information and contribute to financial decision-making.
- Support the Financial Controller in enhancing business processes, aiming to strengthen the company’s financial control system.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field. A master’s degree (MSc or MBA) is a plus.
- Professional certifications such as ACCA, ACA, or CPA (completed or in progress) are advantageous.
- 3-5 years of experience in finance, auditing, or accounting. Experience in shipping / maritime, logistics or automotive is preferred.
- Knowledge of local and regional maritime market conditions is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both Greek and English (a third language is an asset).
Skills:
- High proficiency in financial reporting, data analysis, and management reporting.
- Excellent reporting, analytics, and presentation skills, proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV ERP is an advantage.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive mindset and a “can-do” attitude.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- You possess strong communication skills and have a sharp, analytical mind capable of quick decision-making under pressure.
