The Ship Management Division of ENESEL Group, presently operates a diverse fleet of 28 modern, high-specification tankers and container vessels, is seeking a highly motivated, and experienced Marine Manager for the 14 tanker vessels to join our team in Athens. The role will be reporting to the Managing Director.
All vessels are constructed to the highest international standards in first-class shipyards and are chartered to leading global charterers and operators, primarily on a time-charter basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure safe navigation and operation of vessels, providing guidance to Masters on marine and seamanship matters
- Lead, mentor, and manage the Marine Department team, fostering a strong safety culture and high performance
- Monitor and analyse marine incidents, near misses, and non-conformities; ensure root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Ensure effective bridge management, passage planning, and compliance with COLREGs and best marine practices.
- Monitor regulatory developments and ensure timely implementation across the fleet.
- Implement, maintain, and continuously improve the Company’s Safety Management System.
- Review and update marine-related procedures, manuals, risk assessments, and operational guidance.
- Attend vessels and conduct marine inspections, cargo/mooring/navigational audits and management reviews.
- Review inspection reports, identify trends, and ensure timely and effective closure of observations.
- Monitor the performance, competence, and conduct of Masters and Deck Officers.
- Participate in officer evaluations, promotions, and disciplinary matters where required.
- Identify training needs and support the development of marine training programmes.
- Promote a strong safety culture, and proactive reporting.
- Act as member of the Company’s emergency response team.
- Provide shore-based support to vessels during emergencies, incidents, or operational crises.
- Maintain and continuously improve the IMS and marine procedures
- Collaborate actively across all departments contributing to a team-oriented management structure where cross-functional alignment is essential to delivering safe and efficient vessel operations.
- Support Charterers, and terminals on marine-related matters.
- Design, analyze, and propose the Marine department related OPEX budgets, perform quarterly review of OPEX results, prepare the agenda in cooperation with his/her team and participate in the quarterly/annual MRMs, and be responsible for any marine-related corporate reporting, in coordination with Accounting, HSQE, and Management.
- Ensure continuity and coordination of the Marine Department’s shore-based functions, particularly during periods of increased operational activity or team deployments.
- Contribute marine expertise to new projects, vessel takeovers, and fleet changes.
Qualifications & Experience
- Master Mariner (Unlimited) Certificate of Competency (mandatory).
- 5–10 years of sea service, including command experience on tankers
- Shore-based ship management experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of international maritime regulations and industry best practices (TMSA/SIRE 2.0).
