About
To achieve SOLAS carriage requirements for the use of ECDIS as a primary means of navigation, the ship’s safety management system must include procedures for the operational use of ECDIS. This seminar will outline the required policies and procedures, how to conduct a proper risk assessment and cover steps required for on-board implementation of ECDIS.

Who should attend
This seminar is for shipping companies who are currently implementing ECDIS or are yet to adopt and required to do so imminently. Due to the ECDIS mandate timetable, the seminar is likely to be of most use to those in the cargo vessel market which faces imminent mandate dates (over 50,000GT – July 2016), (over 20,000GT – July 2017) and (over 10,000GT – July 2018).

Presenter

Captain Paul Hailwood will present the seminar. Paul has significant experience in the Merchant Navy and Maritime Industry which includes a Certificate of Competency Master (STCW 95) Unlimited and command experience.

He is considered an internationally renowned expert on ECDIS and integrated bridge operations. He specialises in assisting shipping companies with the development and implementation of practical and efficient bridge procedures during the adoption of Integrated Bridge Systems including ECDIS.

Paul has worked with many prestigious new ship builds and shipping companies, including cruise ships, tankers, large yachts and numerous other commercial companies. In addition to this work he conducts Risk Management surveys for insurance underwriters and has acted as expert witness on a number of navigation related incidents.
