DNV – Crew Management – The Role of the Crew Manager

19 March @ 10:00 - 20 March @ 14:00

DNV Seminars

A Live virtual classroom course which provides a deeper understanding of STCW from a crewing perspective.

This course reflects the tasks and responsibilities of a crew manager working either in a shipping company or for a crewing agency. A crew manager is required to have a deep understanding of training and certification standards and requirements in order to choose the best qualified personnel and to take appropriate actions during emergencies.
This objective is achieved by analysing a reference crewing process and examining the various challenges that could possibly be faced by the Crew Manager.
Training and Certification will be analysed in detail together with some more general questions relating to familiarisation and training on board.
This course includes practical case studies and interactive exercises to achieve the desired learning outcome for the participants.

Emphasis will be given on:

  • Brief review of STCW Structure
  • Interrelation with other Conventions and Codes
  • Crewing Process Overview
  • Training & Certification Requirements
  • Competence requirements
  • Ship type specific training and certification

  • Possible challenges for the Crew Manager
